Something

I am sorry folks it has been so long between postings. I don't have a good excuse other than writer's block. I can't think of anything interesting really to blog about. We have just been trudging through January trying to recuperate from the crazy holidays. This time of year is a relief, but a little sad at the same time. Here is my attempt to write "something" just to let the world know we are still here.

Early Riser - that would be Miles. He has always been a little early bird but in the past few weeks it has been consistently ridiculous. I do not think it is acceptable for anyone to wake up everyday before the first number on the clock says 6 (unless you have a good reason, like you have to go to work, and really that is still awfully early.) I don't know what magic lies in the 6 but it seems to work much better for me than the 5 when it comes to rising. Miles has been waking up since before Christmas between 5:15 and 5:45 everyday - even weekends! (Gasp.) Me, NOT being the early bird, had to put my foot down. I don't remember the exact day but I do remember there was a straw that broke the camel's back. I had to find some way to push his alarm clock back. I researched and in my sleep book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, and Dr. Marc Weissbluth says if they are waking up too early, put them to bed up to an hour earlier. So in my desperate attempt to sleep a little bit longer, we started Miles bedtime bath at 6, immediately dressed him for bed, read a story and put him down to sleep. And it worked. The past few nights that we have done this Miles has slept until 6:30 or 7. It probably won't work tonight being that I have now posted it to the world, but I will still try. It makes no logical sense but Dr. Weissbluth says "sleep begets sleep" and everything else he has said has worked so far, so why question him now. (I highly recommend the book. It helped us organize Miles' sleep habits which has been the most difficult aspect about Miles. He doesn't really like to sleep.)

Well, to not know what to say, I seem to have come up with quite a bit. Whew. I feel much better now. I have several videos I want to post and I also would like to do some Christmas picture highlights for you out-of-towners. Speaking of - any of the family that has pictures of Miles at Christmas, i need them. I guess I was busy "mothering" but I don't have very many pictures of Miles' first Christmas and I have an entire "Baby's first Christmas" album/scrapbook that I want to fill. Just let me know if you have any and we can arrange the exchange!
