Merry Christmas...

I have run out of Christmas Cards! I got all the family done and a lot of my long distance friends, but there are still a few that didn't get one. Though I am a real "paper" kind of person and I like to hold it in my hand, this is the next best thing. Merry Christmas everyone and next year I will order more cards!

Saturday night at Gran and Pop's...

This past Saturday was our first overnight trip away from Miles. We had a wedding and Mason's company Christmas party all in one evening so we thought it was the perfect day for Miles to spend at Gran and Pop's house in Searcy. Overall, I think everyone handled it well - me, Miles and Gran and Pop.
We dropped Miles off around mid-day on Saturday and we were off. In addition to the wedding and Christmas party, we finished most of our Christmas shopping and thought we would try and catch a late movie after the party. It seemed like a very "non-baby" thing for us to do. In case you weren't aware this weekend was not only cold, but very, very windy. We arrived at our house after the party to a very dark neighborhood. The electricity had gone out. Then after we got to the theater and Mason braved the very cold, blustery weather to get our tickets (my hero), the electricity went out at the theater and we had to leave as the emergency lighting was about to shut off. Sure, we can use our tickets to get back in another time, but we don't have a lot of those "another times" with the babysitter. Too bad they couldn't give us a rain-check on that as well. We came back home and decided to watch one of our recorded movies - "The Man Who Knew Too Much". (The electricity had returned to our house.) It's a great Hitchcock film, but don't tell me how it ends because our recording cut off before the story was resolved at the pinnacle of suspense. It was the absolute worse timing for the movie to stop. We have to wait until Thursday when it comes on again. It was just not our night for a movie. It was after midnight and we went to bed only to sleep until 9 this morning! Yeah! It was mighty nice. I rolled over at 8:30 and stayed asleep for 30 more minutes just because I could. Yes, we played hookie from church, but I don't feel guilty about it in the least. I don't get to sleep as late as I want very often. Actually, this is the first time since March that I was able to determine my wake-up time :)
We returned for Miles mid-day today (Sunday) and everyone was happy. The grandparents said Miles was great - despite the blow-out in the middle of the night. I guess Miles was testing the depths of their love and devotion. Gran and Pops didn't seem too stressed out about the 24 hour sitting event. Miles didn't hold any grudges about us leaving him. And I only required one phone call to check how everything was going. I think Mason was surprised.
I feel confident now that I could leave him an entire weekend. Baby steps. We have to work up to 10 days so we can take the trip to Europe that we didn't get in before Miles was born.
I don't have any pictures from this weekend but I will leave you with a picture of Pop with Miles at Thanksgiving. They are quite the pair. Thanks Marilyn and Marks!

North Pole Encounter...

Miles had his first encounter with Santa tonight. I will let you be the judge of how things went.

"Mom, I'm not so sure about this guy."

"Don't tell anyone, but I don't think his beard is the real deal."

"Mom, Dad, Anyone- take me. I'm finished with this guy."

Tooth...

I didn't intend for this picture to be about Miles' tooth, but its about as good as it is going to get if you want to see the tooth. If you look hard you can see the one little tooth standing on the bottom front. It looks a little crooked which gives it character, right? Poor kid doesn't have much of a chance with straight teeth. Sure, I have beautiful straight teeth now, but that was after 6 years of carefully planned orthodontic strategy. Thanks Dr. Devinny.
I do believe Miles will be getting another tooth soon. He has been clingy today and chewing, or rather rubbing things across his bottom gums. I just hope it doesn't cause an ear infection again.
This made me think about the tooth fairy - I realize I have several years before I officially have to worry about this but when something was left under my pillow in exchange for my tooth, it was usually a quarter or two. I heard of some kids getting dollars - up to five - for each tooth. With the rate of inflation, I wonder what we will have to fork out in exchange.

Also, I would like to add that we are doing much better with the sippy cup skills (to add to his mad numchuck skills.) I don't know that sippy cup skills are essential in life, and I really don't know why you can't just go from a bottle to a cup, but I guess they prevent spillage. And that is useful. I was wondering there for a while if he would ever get the hang of it, but obviously he did. For the longest time, he would just stick his neck out waiting for me to place the cup in his mouth and then tilt it back for him. Maybe watching his bud, Sam, at church helped. It was like one day he woke up and knew exactly what to do with it. I don't know why that surprises me. That has been how every other skill has occurred.

I really like this picture. I giggle inside every time I see it. It just looks like Miles is hanging out on the couch with Mason. I guess he is, but it's only because I set him there :0)

A few of my favorite things...

Now that we have increased our cable package we receive the radio channels which I LOVE this time of year because I can get non-stop "holiday" music. I know this tires some people, and keeps the criminals from loitering about parking lots, but I cannot get enough of it. It is the only time of year that Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra become mainstream. The other day I heard the "Sound of Music" song, "A Few of My Favorite Things" on the Holiday channel. I never really considered that a holiday song - I guess all the snowflakes on our nose and eyelashes, and the pretty packages all tied up with string bumps it into that category. I thought I would show you one of my favorite things. I absolutely LOVE, ADORE - I have a Melt-my-heart type infatuation with Miles' laughs, and the great part is that it is not that hard to come by. He is extremely ticklish and is a happy baby so I get this treat often. Life wouldn't be worth living without it (slight exaggeration.) This really isn't the best video of him laughing but the only one we have for now. Sometimes he gets the "fat man" belly laugh and it would tickle (no pun intended) anyone.

All I want for Thanksgiving?

All Miles wanted for Christmas was his two front teeth - but it looks like he will be getting them in time for turkey! Miles has cut one front bottom tooth and I think there is a second one right next to it coming through. It is very difficult to try and look in his mouth as he sticks his tongue right over where the teeth are coming through. I get the best view when I am feeding him. He opens his little mouth wide and I can get a peep in to see the toothies. I thought I saw two Sunday, but the past two days I have triedto see if I can feel it, but i only feel the big one coming through. I am sure we will see soon enough.
Miles has had a terrible runny nose and was rubbing toys back and forth across his gums = as well as all the drooling - last Monday and I suspected we would be getting a tooth soon. A few days later you could feel the little sharp point poking through and then the following day a nasty cough. We went to the doctor and he said that Miles was working on an ear infection from all that congestion in his head. As pitiful as he sounds it seems the teeth bother him more than the snotty nose and cough. Maybe I will be able to get a picture after they have poked through all the way - but don't hold your breath.

Thanksgiving Part Deux..

Here is my remaining list to finish my "seasons of thanks" countdown up to Thanksgiving Day:
14. computers - this sounds so lame but it makes my career so much easier and makes communicating with family and friends much more instant
15. two cars that are reliable
16. cool weather
17. I was able to go to college and that it is paid off
18. Miles sleeps through the night
19. sweaters and flip flops
20. the feeling of clean fresh sheets in a bed that has been made - especially after a trip away from home
21. flexibility in my daily schedule (as Miles allows) to do what I need to even if its not during a lunch break or after 5 - that i can pick up and go watch my niece if i am needed, or go let the electrician in to my sister=in=laws house.
22. that i was able to spend so much time with my grandparents as a child

Count your many blessings and you will see what God has done!

Thanksgiving...

With the THANKSGIVING holiday season upon us, I thought I would pause and be thankful.
First, I would like to say I feel bad for Thanksgiving. If I was Thanksgiving I would be peeved. November first rolled around and WHAM - all the Christmas commercials started running. HELLO? Thanksgiving comes before Christmas. It's like the forgotten step-child. But I do believe that Thanksgiving shall rise again. (As Whistlin' Dixie plays in the background.) Most of my friends feel the same way about Thanksgiving. We all love Christmas but do not want to crowd out the one holiday that has been somewhat preserved from commercial mania.
One of the fun things about having a new family is that we can start some of our own traditions without seeming too cheesy. I have decided that there should be a "season of thanks" - kind of like what advent is during Christmastime. I don't know exactly how I am going to execute it, and luckily I have a year or two to perfect it before Miles can remember anything. For now, I am going to list something I am thankful for for each day up to Thanksgiving. (I meant to start this at the first of the month, but now will have to do.)

1. Mine and my family's health. (Nothing reminds you of this like being sick.)
2. My little house - I complain that it is small but there are parts of the world that this is a mansion and I try to remind myself of that.
3. I can stay home with Miles and still contribute to our budget
4. My sister lives in practically the same town (North Little Rock is almost Little Rock)
5. Freedom - to do as I please, go as I please, believe as I please, and choose as I please
6. a good loving husband
7. a good loving family (even the in-laws) who are close enough
8. a God who loves me and cares about me
9. Friends who I have been able to share baby stuff with and not worry that I am boring them to death
10. a beautiful happy healthy baby boy - I would not change a thing about him (well, maybe less spit-up)
11. a church family
12. homemade mac-n-cheese
13. a fantastic neighborhood where I can walk around a lake whenever I please and name the neighbors two houses down in every direction.

That is one per day so far - more to come.

Hot Springs...

This past weekend we went on a family excursion to Hot Springs to view the autumn foliage. We had a nice time strolling on the promenade which for you photo buffs would be a fantastic location for a shoot. There are falling colorful leaves, brick sidewalks, park benches, rock walls and lots of other old stuff. I wish I had Marci's camera with me. But, since I did not, I had to make do with my little cannon point and shoot.

The weather was very, very mild and Miles and I were way overdressed. I should have put us both in a t-shirt. By the end of the day I was sweating.

We also used our buy-1-get-1 free coupon to ride up to the tower. It was a great view from the top - and I think you could see all of Arkansas. I was very, very nervous riding the elevator and had to close my eyes. We were all glad to get out of the house and was a much needed relaxing break for us.

One Cool Dude.

Miles is too cool for school with my sunglasses.

Boo!

Miles' first Halloween season turned out to be a fairly busy one. We had lots of fun with our friends - but steered clear of most of the candy. Miles still has no teeth so we didn't want to rot the ones that weren't there - ha!

Because of the way I have uploaded the pictures, I will start from the last "event" and go backwards:
1. Halloween night - Miles went from his PJs to his costume around 6pm and we headed next door after receiving our first trick-or-treaters. Miles was dressed as safari baby, complete with tiger and giraffe. (Thanks Uncle Sam for the costume!) We visited with our cool neighbors at Mabel's House (You have to click the link and see our neighbor dressed up as the Yeti. You would think it would scare Miles to see a big white hairy monkey-like creature but he thought he was quite friendly.)

2. Fall Fest at Lake Nixon: The sunday before Halloween our church has a big fall festival at Lake Nixon (our summer day camp) every year. There were games, hayrides, a chili supper and trunk or treat. Here Miles is with his buddy Sam and Mr. Ron. (He is very good at holding babies.) Miles also took his picture with his friends in their costumes - Sam was a duck (or chick- its questionable), Scarlett was a loaf of wonder bread, and Miles was Safari baby. (Thanks Kathy for the picture.)

3. Boo at the Zoo: Saturday night before Halloween we were looking for something fun to do after waxing our hardwood floors all day. We called our friends and ended up going with them to a big Halloween event here in town at the zoo. We didn't know that the animals weren't part of the event - it was just halloween decorations, carnie rides, haunted houses, and candy - most of which Miles nor our friend could partake in. So we walked around visiting and looking at all the kids in costumes. My favorite was one little boy who was dressed as old-school nintendo Luigi. We also saw a kid whose mom got very creative and turned him into a bird feeder. Miles did not dress up as Safari baby for this event, but rather donned his Trick or Treat sweats, and a hat. The weather was quite chilly.

more pictures...

These first few pictures are from our recent trip to the zoo with our good friends Kathy and Sam. It was a gorgeous day - and even though most of the animals were napping, we had a splendid time!

Miles posing for his photo-op.

Miles' best-bud, Sam driving the tractor. (Is his face not hillarious?)

Family pic at the petting zoo (but we didn't do any petting.)
This must be Miles' tough-guy face. I don't think I have seen this face before.

Recent episode with some mashed potatoes.

He is oh-s0-proud of his little mess.

This is one of Miles' favorite toys. We recently purchased him his own keyboard so he did not have to share with mommy.

I am very busy. Have your people call my people.

Miles is sitting up very well these days. We still use the Boppy to cushion his dives from side to side and backwards.

Thats all folks. Come back soon!

Playtime...

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted anything. Miles and I have been under the weather and my work has been stacking up so I haven't quite gotten around to it.

Recently I have realized that there is really no reason to buy any toys for Miles. Now that he is older he is awake longer and plays more. He plays with his age appropriate toys but they really don't entertain him for as long as non-toys. His favorite play thing is my glasses. I can't hardly wear them unless I don't really need them because they do not stay on my face more than a minute or two. He also enjoys anything paper and crinkley, little plastic cups, or whatever you are playing with - such as the keyboard or mouse, remote control, telephone. We even have given him an old remote control and old cell phone to play with but he would rather have yours.

Miles is sitting up some now - finally. He can prop himself up forward but as soon as he chases a toy to the left or the right, he tips over. I place him sitting up in the U of the Boppy pillow that I used when he was an itty bitty baby and he can sit there and play while I work. I don't have to worry about him crashing over and smacking his head on the floor. He rode in a buggy at Target for the first time without his carseat a week ago. He starred at everything very wide-eyed and held on to the sides of the buggy steadying himself. I think he got a little weary of it because he got fussy by the end of our shopping excursion. I am going to have to get one of those cart covers now. I'm not normally a germ-o-phobe but I cringe at the thought of him chewing on the handle of the cart since I know as soon as he figures it out, he will be knawing on it like he does everything else. A brand new Babys-R-Us just opened here so we will have to go see what kind of selection they have.

Pictures

I know most of you are here for the pictures so here are some recents. Oh and I forgot to mention in my post about our dr. visit that Miles is now 18lbs. 7.5 oz. He has jumped from 16lbs 10.5 oz in 3 weeks! ( I will let you do the math.)

I was asking for it...

I was asking for it. While chatting with a friend over lunch, the subject of Miles' health came up and I mentioned that we had only had a couple little colds. Today we got a big bug of some sort. I got him out of his crib at 7:15am this morning (a very late morning for us) and he was HOT. I fed him and then took his temperature. 100.6 under the arm. Great - so much for the picture of good health. I could not tell what was wrong. He sounded a little congested but no runny nose. His ears didn't seem to bother him. He was eating fine. No nasty diapers. So after calling everyone I knew, I decided we should go to the doctor. While making all those phone calls Miles sat in my lap half-heartedly moaning and fell asleep. Unheard of! He obviously was not feeling himself.
We went to the doctor and it was the perkiest he has felt all day. Of course. You know how your car never makes that noise that it has been making for 6 weeks when you take it to the mechanic. I've decided kids are the same way after talking with several moms. There is no sickness that a roll of the crinkly doctor's paper won't fix. He has a little virus. No biggie according to the doctor. Well then why am I so worried? I took his temperature again in the not so fun place and it was 102.6. I immediately called my sister and she politely danced around the question if I was paranoid. That seems awfully high for just a little cold. Anyway I say all of that to say, I now know how my mom feels whenever she worries about my sister and me. It is a nagging uneasiness that something is wrong and you have no control over the matter to fix it.

I know a lot of you look to see the pictures so here is a new one of Miles. This is from our trip to Fayetteville. Miles has just learned how to suck on a straw and cups fascinate him so this entertained him for a good 10 minutes. (Just in case you were worried that he would get some of the Haagn-Dazs rest assured that it was a non-dairy lemon fizzer.) He was extremely upset when he had to get in the car and mommy took it away.

Over the hills and through the woods

We weren't going to grandma's house but decided to take a little day hike over the hills and through the woods to Lake Sylvia and enjoy this nice fallish weather. I had never heard of Lake Sylvia but it was in our Tim Ernst trail book. It was only a 4 mile loop and was close in the Ouachita National Forest so we thought it sounded like a good Sunday afternoon stroll.
Yes, we brought Miles with us. (We can no longer leave him at home with Smokey the Great Dane babysitter - just kidding.) He rode in the Baby Bjorn and loved every minute of it - or more like 2 hours of it!
Miles jabbered gleefully (seriously, he did) for the first 15 minutes or so and then became accustomed to the ride. It was not a difficult trail and gradually went up and down and around the terrain. There would have been a few streams but they were all dry. We finally reached the lookout over the lake as well as a good vista of the Ouachita Mountains.

The hike did take us longer than we expected - as does everything since we have a baby. I was carrying around 17 extra pounds and could not see my feet so i had to be very sure of my step. Plus, I have short little legs compared to Mason's long "Johnny Hopper" legs. I was trailing behind by a dozen steps the whole time. It has inspired me to loose 17 lbs though. I was quite relieved when I was able to take Miles "off". It got me thinking how much better I would feel if I could take 17 lbs off of myself so the push is on! A 17 lbs lighter me is my goal by the end of this year.
The highlight of our hike was seeing one (or two) whitetail deer does pranced across the trail. We could not tell if we saw the same deer twice or if it was a different one. The way they bounce around is quite amazing. Miles and I also admired a blue butterfly for a moment and I also saw a squirrel (and lots of mosquitoes). That is my wildlife report.
Miles was so good the entire time. He only got a little fussy towards the end - since he really did want to go to sleep but being jostled while I walked made the conditions for sleep unfavorable (though he has fallen asleep in the Bjorn before.) He thoroughly enjoys being outdoors and we hope that there are many more family hikes in store for us! We are just going to wait until the temperature drops another 20 degrees before attempting it again.

Five seconds of fame...

Miles has made it famous! Check out his absolutely adorable portrait that we had made with Christy Hollingshead. She is fantastic! And Miles is soo cute how could they not be fantastic. He is the 10th picture down.
(I should be getting my prints soon so you guys should come see the Miles gallery that we will have displayed at our house. I bought enough pictures to cover just about every empty wall space in the house. I will be mailing some out too.)
She has a really sharp looking logo too - don't you think?

So long good friend...

Yesterday the Hazelwood House bid farewell to a good friend, Smokey. Smokey has been with us for 3 years now and with our new family situation we decided finding a new home would be the fair thing to do for everyone. Smokey will receive all the attention he needs and Miles can use the free space to roam fur-free as he pleases. Because Smokey came from the Arkansas Great Dane Rescue we were required to give him back. I was pleased to hear that he did not have to go to the rescue but a new family was there to take him immediately in. Smokey was a fantastic four legged friend with more affection than I knew dogs were capable of displaying. We hope he will be happy in his new home and if you are searching for a furry friend check out the Arkansas Great Dane website here. They are truely gentle giants!

Florida - Day 4

Today Matt's Brother Will and his girlfriend Amber came to visit. After getting up and getting ready we headed to the beach. We walked this time and Miles rode in the Baby Bjorn. He enjoyed the ride but did not care for the beach. He was very cranky and tired the entire time which made it hard for me to enjoy the beach. He eventually took a nap and that allowed me to get in the water for a little bit but he woke up and grabbed a handful of sand and rubbed it in his face. As you can imagine, that wasn't fun and neither was us trying to clean him up. I think we are going to the pool next time.

After we came home and had lunch, the boys and Amber went to get seafood at Shrimp's seafood market. They got some Tuna and shrimp along with some other needed groceries for our seafood dinner.
After they were back we got our stuff together and took the bikes for a ride again. I have thoroughly enjoyed our rental bikes and Mason and I have discussed getting bikes for home but the only downside about that is that our neighborhood is much more hilly than the land here. I don't know if it would be as much pulling the trailer up all the big hills. While on our bike ride we went back over to Rosemary Beach. I didn't have anyone to bounce this off of because mason had gone to look at the beach, but I think I saw Vince Vaughn in Rosemary Beach. It looked like Vince Vaughn, and sounded like Vince Vaughn (who has a very destinctive voice) and he had a large african-american man riding with him (bodyguard?). I think i was starring just trying to figure out if that was really who I thought it was. I am sure he is used to it.
We got back and had our seafood dinner. It was very yummy with corn, potatoes, and asparagus to go with the boiled shrimp. We couldn't hardly eat the corn because it would burn our lips off!! We then played a good game of Loaded Questions - I had a really good laugh. Only one more fun day left of our vacation. The only think good about going home is that Miles' 3 month portraits are waiting on me when we get back.

Florida - Day 3

When we woke up this morning it was cloudy. Being my mother's daughter I decided to check the weather. There was a good chance of rain so we made the decision to go shopping at the outlet mall in Sandestin. Mason was looking for some new shoes but came out empty handed. I got two new t-shirts and Miles got a couple new shirts as well. There was a Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant at the outlet mall but turns out it was not open yet. We all had a hankering for a hamburger and got lucky when we found a Johnny Rockets at the other mall in Destin.
After lunch on our way back to the house we stopped at a Gellato shop we saw earlier in the day. I had a cup of lemon sorbet and shared it with Allison on the way home. Turns out it was her first cone ever. She enjoyed it thoroughly.

After nap time we took our bikes for a spin down the road through a couple of little beach towns/neighborhoods. We put Miles in the trailer. I don't think he disliked it but he did not squeal with excitement either. He looked uncomfortable but since he didn't say anything about it, I did not mess with him. We had to wake him up when we got home to put the bike up.

A couple of my favorite areas were Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach. It just amazes me all these huge homes that are really beautiful and are really expensive. I didn't realize this many people had this much money in order to buy a vacation home. Most of these houses are $2 million +. What in the world are we doing here? See more pics here.

Mason and I were able to dine alone thanks to Kim and Matt. We will be reciprocating on Sunday night. We visited a small little restaurant called Summer Kitchen Cafe. I had a Mahi Mahi fish taco and Mason had shrimp and cheese grits. We then investigated Rosemary Beach some more and walked over to the beach to admire the stars. They are brighter and twinklier at the beach.

We are now working towards our phases in our card game. I am not doing so well. For any of you who are wondering how it is going- Kim is winning.

Florida - Day 2

It is actually day 3 of our trip but I didn't get to post about day 2 - so I thought I better not slip up before I really got going on our trip log.
After everyone got up and had some coffee and breakfast in them we prepared for the beach. And I wasn't really prepared for the amount of planning it takes to get a baby to the beach. And having never been to the beach, I had no idea what I did or did not need to take. We finally got everything packed up and headed for the beach on our rented bikes. My bike is girlie girl pink and they aren't really "cool" bikes but rather beach cruisers like the one I used to make fun of my mom for riding. To make things even better, I am pulling a kiddie trailer to put Miles and all our stuff in. It was actually quite a bit of fun and I am considering investing in one when we get home. We didn't take a picture of the bike but we should today. I have never had a pink bike. All i need are some sparkly streamers and i will be in the third grade all over again.

It was a really gorgeous day for being at the beach - clear blue skies, not too hot. And the beach was just as pretty as the one in Pensacola - sugary white beaches and beautiful blue water. - what you picture a beach to be like. Kim and Matt brought a canopy and we landed in our spot on the beach. I learned a lot about what you need on the beach. A beach chair is very nice if you don't want to wallow in the sand - which we did - but we will not do again. I am serious about investing in some chairs or at least renting some for the remainder of our trip. A floaty of some sort would be nice for getting the water. I was only in the ocean for about 5-10 minutes but all these little fishes kept coming up and nibbling at your feet and legs. That freaked me out and I know I looked like a buffoon in the water dancing around. Turns out when you step in the sand, it stirs up their food, and they are just taking advantage of your movement, soooo if you are in a floaty you won't do that and therefore they will not nip at your toes....Oh and the other thing was the flag indicating the safety was on blue which means dangerous marine life. The only dangerous marine life I saw was those little white fish. I wish they would have been more specific so I could have been on the lookout.
Miles was somewhat indifferent to the beach. He was the only one in our party that was able to snooze at the beach. By the time we got there and set up, it was his nap time. We propped him up in his little chair and he snoozed away. I tried to lay on the beach and relax but it was near impossible as i rolled in the sand. Since I was already sandy, I decided to try and make a sandcastle. Unfortunately when I tried to get some help from Allison she decided it was demolition time.
We were out there for about an hour and decided it was time to go in.

That was about it for the day. Mason went for a massage while the rest of just hung out in the house. After much contemplation we went out to eat for dinner at a place called Pompano Joes in Destin. It was a seafood shack that was right on the beach. All the windows were open and you could see the ocean. The food was OK but it was neat how you sat right on the beach to eat. It was really fast to sit down and the food came fast. Speedy service is oh so important when you have a toddler and a baby with you.

It was after 9 when we got in. We got the kiddoes to bed and enjoyed a partial game of 12 step Rummy (which is just like Phase 10). We only got through the first 3 or 4 steps because i was falling asleep and couldn't hold my cards up. We will continue the game tonight. I was winning until the last hand which i then went from first to last place.

Florida - Day 1

I thought I would keep a daily log of our journey. We will see if i keep it up.
We left 5 min earlier than our ETD - 4:55 am. It was a miracle. Miles woke up at 3:30 so i just stayed up. Lets just say its been a long day.

Miles was ok on the trip. He was on the fussy side this morning but after lunch he was good and took a good 2 hour nap in the car. After about hour 10 in the car he was ready to get out and would put up a little protest whenever we would snap him in the carseat.
It seems like the last hour and a half were an eternity. I am sure it had nothing to do with the screaming baby in the backseat. it only took 12 hours.

Our place is really nice. It is very "pottery barn" which I like. Miles is going to have to sleep in the room with us which I wasn't thrilled about. i don't sleep well when he is in our room. But i was probably not going to sleep well anyway.
I will post more pictures of our place when i can take some better pictures. We got our stuff unpacked and had pizza tonight.

Here is a picture of Pensacola Beach. It was prettier than I thought it would be. We stopped real quick and took a few pics. We were surprised how few people were out. Hopefully it will stay that way atleast until Friday. Visit more pics here.

The Digg Running Challenge

Mason needs some motivation to get him back into a running routine. So here's my proposition. For every comment or digg this post gets up to 100, he will run 1 mile. After that, he will run 1/10th of a mile for every comment or digg this post gets. He is ready to get into shape, so bring it on!
